Fifteen-year-old Ly Dang is an eleventh grader at Conard High School in West Hartford. She has been studying piano at the age of four. She currently studies with Malgosia Lis at the University of Hartford. In her piano studies and pursuits, Ly has had the honor of receiving many awards and prizes. Among those include the 2nd Prize at the II Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, the 2nd Prize for the Audrey Thayer Competition continuously from 2010-2013, Honorable Mention for the Musical Club of Hartford Piano Competition, and others. Along with the piano, Ly also has been playing the violin for seven years. Ly’s previous piece of writing describing a piano piece was previously published in the Suzuki of America Association Mini Journal and also was selected in Connecticut Student Writers Magazine Contest.
