Matthew D. Thibeault is Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts at the Education University of Hong Kong. His teaching and research are primarily concerned with understanding the changing roles of music learning as it takes place alongside a society increasingly saturated with technology and media. Part of that work also includes a focus on participatory music education, especially using the ukulele. Thibeault has lived and taught in the US, Japan, and Hong Kong, and he plays several string instruments with an emphasis on informal and improvised music.
