Michael Montgomery
Dr. Michael Montgomery, formerly a bassist with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, is the bass instructor at the University of Arkansas as well as the Suzuki Music School of Arkansas and maintains a private teaching studio at his home in Rogers, Arkansas, where he recently initiated the Ozark MiniBass Project. Michael Montgomery received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in double bass performance from the University of Miami, studying with Lucas Drew. His doctoral thesis was based on studies for jazz bass. Michael previously studied with Robert Rohe, principal bass of the New Orleans Symphony, and was Adjunct Professor of electric bass and double bass at Florida International University. Michael is a member of the International Society of Bassists and the Suzuki Association of the Americas. His articles have been published in the American Suzuki Journal, Bass World, and Pastoral Music, and bass music by recitalmusic.net and stfrancismusic.com.
