Opportunities
As Suzuki teachers, we work with the same children week after week, year after year. We also work with their parents over time. The long term nature of our work—combined with our value of educating and enriching the whole child—means that we have many opportunities to fortify the families we work with by giving them experiences that they would be hard-pressed to find in other places. This session is about how to notice and use these opportunities.
5:48 Part I: Where we are now in Suzuki world and why
24:30 Part II: Concepts of child development
35:32 Part III, Opportunities our work presents us.
Goals
One goal of this session is to help teachers notice and value the micro moments in lessons that present opportunities to help children and their parents develop in positive ways. The other goal is to give teachers strategies that will help teachers to be advocates for 1) understanding the inner emotional life of the developing child, 2) the joys and struggles of the parental journey, 3) the benefits of music, and 4) the process and benefits of learning and mastery.
