Meg Lanfear
Meg Lanfear is the Founder and Director of the Oak Park String Academy in Oak Park, IL. Meg is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Violin Performance as well as a Masters in Suzuki Pedagogy. In addition to completing the pedagogy program at Cleveland, Meg has done further studies with Koji Toyoda in Matsumoto Japan, Nancy Lokken, Ed Kreitman, Teri Einfeldt, and Mimi Zweig. An avid performer, Meg has performed with numerous orchestras and chamber groups in the US and Japan including performances alongside Daniel Barenboim, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock and Itzhak Perlman. In addition to teaching and directing, Meg currently performs with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra in Elgin, IL. Meg is also studying Dalcroze with Jeremy Dittus and is a candidate for a Dalcroze Certificate. Meg lives in Oak Park, IL with her husband, Randy, and her two young sons, James and Henry.
