Communication Committee of Latin American Teachers Trainers

Central and South America Map

The twelve Latin American teacher trainers have formed a committee to work together and in close coordination with the SAA office. Since May 2020 we have had regular meetings in order to prepare and present the SOS (Suzuki Online Seminars) and then the Teacher Training Courses. In recent years, the growing enthusiasm and interest for the Suzuki Method approach in different countries from Mexico to Patagonia, poses the challenge of being able to offer courses for teachers while maintaining high standards for the good of all children and their families. In a recent meeting, we evaluated the impact of the excellent reception that the online courses had in these months of 2020, evaluating the advantages, as well as thinking about what we could improve for the future if we continue with this online format.

That is why we have formed this amazing team. Some of its objectives:

  • Facilitate communication between countries and teachers in Latin America
  • Promote teacher training
  • Help, support, answer questions
  • Inform the SAA office, make specific recommendations and suggestions according to the very diverse realities in our countries, publicize news or decisions.

If you wish to contact the committee, please write to:

AMERICAN SUZUKI JOURNAL NEWS

American Suzuki Journal – Call for Submissions

We want to hear from you!

As a part of the wider SAA learning community, the American Suzuki Journal relies on volunteer article submissions. We invite you to engage in your learning community by sharing your experiences and knowledge in articles and interviews for ASJ!

As we look toward new horizons in 2021, let’s take the best of what we learned from 2020 to enrich our teaching. Support your colleagues by sharing what you have learned! We welcome submissions on all Suzuki-related topics, but articles about how you navigate current events in your studio are especially welcome. Have you shifted your focus more toward character development in 2020? Found a way to teach advanced technique through Zoom? Authentically connected with teachers or families with different backgrounds from your own? And of course, we can all appreciate uplifting stories of generosity and community building through music.

Additionally, ASJ is looking for individuals to serve on a support committee. These volunteers will help generate articles by making connections among their own peers. Contact us at the email below for more information.

Let us share, listen, and help one another through this!

Please see https://suzukiassociation.org/news/guidelines/ for article guidelines.
Submit articles and questions to publications@suzukiassociation.org.

Autumn Group Lesson

AUTUMN GROUP LESSON

Submitted by: Nancy Lokken
Some teachers in Augsburg University Suzuki Talent Education took advantage of the beautiful fall weather and scheduled group lessons outside. The students took turns going to one another’s back yards for weekly groups. Just being together with safe distance learning was uplifting not only for the students, but the parents as well.

Have a great picture to share? We are looking for photos of students performing in their community. Did you invite the neighborhood to a book recital? Or the general public to a group concert? Have you played in an assisted living facility, street fair, or mall? Submit your own picture today!
