Dear Suzuki Community: This time of year tends to be rather busy—regardless of where you are in the region! I hope that you are taking good care and that there is at least some time for you to breathe and find rejuvenation as May comes to a close. Perhaps you might be willing to let us in on how you rejuvenate your work and your teaching, as our upcoming quarterly American Suzuki Journal focuses on the theme of Rejuvenation. In the last month, the Suzuki Training Committee (STC) gathered together and began its work. For the next two months, we are focused on building community and connection, understanding our roles and responsibilities, and determining our areas of focus for the 2024 fiscal year, which begins in August. I am humbled to work alongside the committee, as I am humbled to be connected with you all as part of our Suzuki community. We will continue to provide updates as we work! Expect open STC office hours to begin in the fall. Finally—save the date! Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 26th from 4:30p-6:00p PST via Zoom. It will be recorded for any members who are unable to attend. A Zoom link will be sent out to members in advance of the session. We look forward to sharing updates from our Board of Directors, updates from our Executive Director, and sharing space with our members. Wishing you a wonderful month ahead! Best, Angelica Cortez

Call for papers—Volume 51, Number 4For our upcoming issue, we are seeking articles based around the theme of Rejuvenation. Our lives and our teaching flow in cycles. At times we’re fresh and excited, bubbling with creative ideas, performances, and vigor. At other times, we’re at a low point: burned out, spread too thin, and fresh out of ideas. We need a reset and time to recharge. For this issue of the ASJ, we are examining strategies of renewal from many perspectives.
Submissions are due July 1, 2023. Further information and the submission form can be found here. To share ideas, general inquiries, or just to say hi, please contact Andrew Braddock at editor@suzukiassociation.org.

We are pleased to share space with another music-centered organization. Each organization will host its own conference in the same venue, with opportunities for members to overlap. Check this page for updates regarding a call for proposals. We expect to launch our call for proposals on June 15th, and to accept proposals through August 15th. We will also provide details about any student and ensemble opportunities on the page linked above! Student and ensemble opportunities will have a separate timeline and audition process. We can’t wait to see you there!
