The theme “A Collaborating Community” invites us to explore the many different forms collaboration can take, both within and outside the SAA community. Presentations may be specific to an instrument area or fall into a broader category like outreach, studio management, Suzuki heritage and history, workshop logistics, health and wellness, teaching tools, communication, rhythm, and reading, or technology. Topics with a focus on collaboration are particularly encouraged this year. Sending students to the conference?
Conference student events offer unique observation experiences for participating teachers and great coaching and performing experiences for students. Students may apply to participate in instrument-specific masterclasses coached by distinguished guest clinicians and/or they may apply to participate in coached ensembles.
 The Suzuki Association of the Americas, in coordination with the Texas SAA Chapter Affiliates, North Texas Suzuki Association and Southeast Texas Suzuki Association, would like to invite you to participate in our campaign to support the teachers and families in the Greater Houston area who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. Please consider donating directly to the Suzuki Hurricane Relief Fund to benefit Huston area Suzuki teachers and families.

From the Talent Education Research Institute in Japan:2018 is the 120th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. On April 4th of this special year, Talent Education Research Institute will hold the 54th Grand Concert. It has been 9 years since the last Grand Concert took place. In 2011, we suspended the 53rd Grand Concert because of the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami on March 11th. This time, we are planning to perform with Children’s Orchestra of El Sistema Japan, which was founded in 2012 to support the children affected by the disaster. 
Bach to School with SAU In early September, Suzuki Association of Utah held a unique concert devoted to music written by any Bach composer. They had individuals and groups perform on cello, flute, violin, viola and piano. They had a cello sextet, a violin quartet, a violin studio group, one violin duo, and many solos. One student played music by C.P.E. Bach, and the rest were by J.S. Bach. The concert was held in an art studio, so participants were enriched visually as well as aurally. What a great way to kick off the fall season! 
PMA at the SLB. The Saturday Light Brigade is a weekly radio show broadcast for children in Pittsburgh. One regular segment is the Youth Expressions Showcase which features music students from the area. These students of The Pittsburgh Music Academy performed and were interviewed in July, 2017. Archives can be found at slbradio.org.
