May 27-31, 2010 marks the SAA’s 14th Biennial Conference in Minneapolis, MN, at the Hilton Hotel and Convention Center. Be sure to save the dates for this special event! The theme for 2010 is TEAMWORK. Visit the Conference website for more information on the plans so far. Master Class CliniciansThe 14th biennial SAA Conference will “feature our own” distinguished SAA members, friends, and former Suzuki students who are now young artist-teacher professionals as our special clinicians for the instrument master classes. True to the theme of the Conference, the format of these master classes will include both team teaching and solo instruction. The young artist clinicians will also be involved in side-by-side chamber music coachings and perform a selection on the Young Artist Recital. Bass: Paul Sharpe, Nicole Castleberry SYOA Conductors: Marilyn Kesler, Winifred Crock Student Audition ApplicationStudent auditions are now being accepted for all Conference events, including masterclasses with the distinguished clinicians announced above. Check the student participation requirements for all the students events, eligibility requirements, and audition pieces. All student audition materials must be postmarked by the following due dates—NO EXCEPTIONS:
Apply for a Student Conference Event Submit Your Conference Session ProposalSession proposals are now being accepted for Top Ten Tracks and instrument-specific pedagogy. You have just a few weeks left: proposals are due October 15. Selected presenters will be notified by January 15, 2010. Submit a Conference Session Proposal You will need to log in to submit a proposal. If you haven’t yet set up a website account, you can create one from the “create an account” link on the login page. Call for Research Papers or Projects Tenth International Research Symposium on Talent Education Keynote Address by Dr. Robert Duke: Co-sponsored by the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American Suzuki Institute Minneapolis Hotel Conference Center Unpublished research papers and Graduate Student research projects, at any stage of development, on topics relevant to Talent Education are invited to be submitted to the 10th International Research Symposium or the IRSTE Graduate Student Seminar with Dr. Robert Duke. Appropriate topic areas could include early childhood development, any related areas of music education, instrumental education, historical research regarding the Suzuki method, teacher-student interaction, and parental involvement in music education. Papers or project ideas must be no more than 25 pages in length. The author’s name, institutional affiliation, if applicable, email and mailing address should appear on the title page. Please view our website for more details. A copy of the paper and abstract must be submitted electronically by March 19, 2010. Selection of papers will be determined by a panel of qualified readers.
