Dear Suzuki Guitar Teachers of the SAA, Greetings and hoping that this finds you well and enjoying your teaching and playing. We are writing to inform of you of some recent developments in the Suzuki Guitar world. The International Suzuki Association Guitar Committee has announced the beginning of the process of revision of Books 1 and 2 of the Suzuki Guitar School. We are working carefully and methodically so that we can refine and improve on what we consider to already be an outstanding contribution to the pedagogy of our beautiful instrument. Book 1 has been in print for over 20 years! That means that there is a vast body of knowledge and experience that has been accumulated by many teachers. Dr. Suzuki invited teachers to constantly continue to reflect on and evaluate the teaching process. We would like all registered Suzuki Guitar teachers in the SAA currently using the Suzuki method in it’s full form (with group class and parent involvement) to contribute ideas, offer suggestions, or voice concerns. They will be placed in a folder for the entire SAA guitar committee to read. Each region will consolidate their ideas to send to the ISA Guitar Committee, who will then vote on the changes, with one vote per region (ESA, PPSA, SAA). Changes then can be sent to the publisher, hopefully by 2014. One of the reasons our method is so strong is because of input from teachers all over the world, so let’s continue to grow! Simply email your response by September 30 to marylou@arborguitar.org We look forward to hearing from you, The SAA Guitar Committee |
